It is with great excitement that I write to you as the new principal of MacGregor Elementary!
My name is Nick Meldrum, and I am eager to meet with and get to know all of you! For the past four years, I served as the K-12 Assistant Principal and Director of Virtual Learning at Unionville Sebewaing Area Schools. I have worked as a Superintendent/CAO of State Street Academy and have taught in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade classrooms. I earned both my Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree from Saginaw Valley State University.
I was born, raised and currently reside in Bay City. I am a product of MacGregor Elementary and the Bay City Public Schools. My wife Kaytlyn and I have three amazing Children: Braxton who is in 5th grade, Aylah who is in 2nd and Laikyn who will be in young 5’s. As a family we enjoy camping, fishing, UofM sports, relaxing on a beach and just spending quality time together. Personally, I enjoy watching my daughter’s dance and coaching my son in baseball and football.
With my goal of continuing the traditions here at Macgregor Elementary School, I am committed to always exploring new ways to meet the needs of all students and to more effectively communicate with parents and community members. I firmly believe that every child can excel, that the partnership between home and school builds confidence in students to shape their future and the future of our community.
To our students, I cannot wait to meet you all! I hope that you are excited for this coming school year. Enjoy the rest of summer and continue reading books with your family and friends. It is going to be a fun year learning together.
Please know that my door is always open to you. I welcome your conversation and positive input throughout this year. Let us always keep our students the primary focus of our work. I look forward to celebrating our collective successes during the 2023-2024 school year!
